Or what about, “Boom, hoot, trumpet your site to 10,200,000 Webpages ” Cool! Instant free website traffic by the millions. A marketer’s dream.
Google ‘ad directory submission’ or ‘submit to free ad directories and you’ll see anything from 25,800,000 to 97,000,000 results. Lots of choices; must be a good strategy, right?
Wrong, unless…
Lets say you decide to sign up for a FFA (free-for-all) service that blasts your site for free to 10 million pages at the click of your mouse. Wow! Fantabulous! A traffic stampede.

Spiders, or as Google calls it “ GoogleBot”. One of the most useful tools that are used on the internet today. They are everywhere. Spiders find, categorize, rank, introduce and can report back to whoever it is that put them out there. (Such as the big boys like Google) So the truth is that these spiders will make you or keep you deeply buried under the millions of websites on the net. Nevertheless, done properly these spiders will also help you become “The King Of The Mountain.” The reason the first thing I mentioned was the GoogleBot is because Google is the King of Kings at this time on the internet. Therefore Google is the one we want to impress. You get top page ranking on Google, the rest come easy.
What do Spiders do?
There just like real spiders. They crawl, they can even bite. As they crawl the sites, they report back to the database of whoever it is that they are working for. If you don’t play by the rules. That is where the bite comes in. You can be banned and you don’t want that. Just like a real bite, this can be very painful. Especially, if you put in a lot of time, effort and money into your site.
On the other hand, spiders can be a webmasters best friend. When a spider finds its favorite meal “relevance” it goes back to the database and reports it. In return your site gets rewarded, thus your page ranking is improved. The bottom line is the higher the ranking, the higher the traffic and the higher the traffic the higher are your chances of success.
I am not going to get into the technical end of how spiders are made and where, who, and when they were invented. To be perfectly honest with you, I don’t know. What I do know is that they are a big part of SEO (search engine optimization) and all you need to know is how to make them happy so that they can make you happy. It’s that simple, it’s just like life. You get out of it what you put into it. Let the spiders find good things in your webpage’s, good things will happen to your webpage’s.
